morning. tony is here with the forecast. hope you flew on some extra jackets. >> i just went back outside to double-check the sky conditions and it is cold. no doubt about it. for most of you, you are in the 20s this morning. here in the district, we are in the low 30s. later today, it will be okay. it will be cool but seasonable. >> i heard sunshine is in the forecast. >> yes, it is. let's take a look, show you what is going on out there. we'll start with the current temperatures at the area airports. it is 32 degrees. dulles is at 20 degrees. bwi marshall is at 24 degrees. i looked outside. there are some clouds out there. what this is picking up is some of the cold air that we have in place. those temperatures in the 20s. there are a few clouds but we'll see lots of sunshine through the course of the day today. i do think southern maryland, places like that, you will have more in the way of cloud cover particularly in the latter part of the day. so for most of us, we'll see a seasonably cool day, good

amount of sunshine, highs in the mid- and upper 40s. our average high is 4 degrees. we think we'll get to 46 in alexandria. 46 in culpeper. 47 in la plata. i'll go with 47 in the district. that is a look at the forecast. more coming up in just a little bit. >> all right. thank you very much. let's check in with julie wright, say good morning to her and check on traffic. >> good morning. better news for you if you are traveling the canal road clara barton parkway stretch, basically between georgetown and the beltway, roadway has been reopened overnight. all of the accident activity has wrapped up. we see traffic coming from the outbound lanes right now of the canal road corridor headed over towards the chain bridge. a few moments ago, we saw folks coming in off the chain bridge making that right turn head down towards arizona avenue. no problems reported now southbound along 270 southbound out of clarkburg. you will find inbound new york avenue at speed as you work

your way from northeast to northwest making your way past bladensburg road. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. ic. frightening sunday for a d.c. neighborhood coming to an end after an hours-long stand off. it started with a traffic stop around north capital and gallatin street northwest. park police tried to pull over a drive but kept on going. police went after the driver and the two strike crashed -- two vehicles crashed. the suspect broke into a home. the suspect was taken into custody and authorities say he never had a weapon. funeral arrangements set for the virginia tech police officer shot and killed on campus last week. there will be a service for derek crouse at virginia tech's coliseum today. the officer leaves behind his

wife, his 16-year-old son dustin and four stepsons. we now know the name of the man who died in a crash in seat pleasant saturday. 31-year-old reggie crawford crossed the yellow lines on seat pleasant drive and slammed into an oncoming vehicle. investigators haven't yet determined why he crossed the line. crowe -- crawford was thrown from his car. a crackdown on so-called flash mobs in maryland. lawmakers will introduce a flash mob theft act of 2012 outside a germantown 7-eleven target bid a flash mob in august. the bill would make bhult inle acts of theft committed by multiple people in union son one crime. the total value of the property would determine whether it was a felony or misdemeanor. still no sign of the wssc employee who disappeared on the tridelphia reservoir nine days ago. family and friend returned to the banks of the water again to

pray that chuck duckett would some day come home to them. >> reporter: dozens ever people who know and love chuck duckett gathered at the banks of the tridelphia reservoir. it has been nine days since he vanished but they haven't given up hope that he will be found. >> i pray every night. i pray every night. >> reporter: duckett was at this site. his boat was found about 300 yards from where he launched it. crews who were back on the water searching again today also found a floatation device but no sign of duckett. the only sibling charlita duckett has. >> as you can imagine, i'm hurting very, very deeply from not knowing where my brother is. >> reporter: it has been nine days of agony for duckett's wife keisha and their three kids too, ages 12, 9 and 7. they have a lot of support from family and friends who are also

looking for answers. >> we are looking for him to return home. we are continuing to pray for that and wear holding out hope. >> reporter: rescue crews say it is unlikely the 35-year-old could have survived very long in the frigid water of the reservoir. they've searched the woods nearby. >> the family wants closure so we can continue to comfort each other and move on and build each other up. >> that is audrey barnes reporting for us there. president obama meeting with the prime minister of iraq at the white house this morning. they are to chart the next steps for the u.s. and iraq as the last of american combat troops leave iraq by the end. the month. the two leaders are to discuss the next phase of the relationship between the united states and iraq. fallout from saturday night's gop debate fueled the sunday talk shows. democrats and republicans alike are accusing mitt romney of being out of touch after he had e. said he he would make a $10,000 bet with rick perry.

welcome back. we'll take a look outside this morning. it is cold out there. temperatures in the 20s in most places. a little extra chill to get your week started on this monday morning. >> so enjoy! >> yeah, cold start to the day but we'll see seasonable temperatures today. our average high for this time of year is 4 degrees. we'll be right about there.

not too bad. -- our average high for this time of year is 43 degrees. dulles only made it up to 42 degrees yesterday. we've dropped off. 30degrees now here in the nation's capital. 32 in annapolis. quantico is at 27 degrees. we do have some teens out there as well. culpeper, manassas, 19. frederick, maryland, 18 degrees right now. bundle up. here is a look at the satellite- radar. now, i pulled this one up because it is a big picture and it does indeed show some of these clouds pushing in from the south. dew think that high pressure is going to give us a pretty good amount of sunshine today in the washington area. but off to the south and east, i do think you will have a fair amount of cluck across places like southern maryland, southeastern portions of virginia, maybe richmond, virginia too. but i think for the most part, it will be good sunshine for washington and points north and west. having said that, the forecast

an hours-long d.c. police stand off. started when the police tried to make a routine stop. the driver didn't pull over the suspect ran off bursting into a gala -- gallatin street home. s.w.a.t. teams arrived and getting nearly a dozen people out of house. >> there were three kids in baby carriers and three little scuds and -- kids and a lot of adults. >> the suspect is now in police custody. the virginia tech police officer shot appear killed on campus last week will be laid to rest today. there will be a service for derek crouse today. he will be barried afterwards. officer crouse leaves behind his wife, his 16-year-old son and four stepsons. lawmakers in maryland are cracking down on so-called flash mobs. a press conference scheduled for today to introduce the

former panamanian strong man manuel noriega is back in panama this morning. he arrived from france last night escorted by a security team to panama city's prison. the 77-year-old is beginning to serve three 20- year sentences for killing political rivals in the 1980s. this is the first time noriega has returned to panama since he was ousted in the u.s. invasion back in 1989. i ran onofficials say they will not return the american surveillance drone they intercepted in iran. the official are now saying how -- not saying how they captured the drone but a deputy commander in the iranian revolutionary guard says the spy plane was a hostile act. position news reports that president obama had three options to retrieve the drone but decided iran may consider it an act of war. there are concerned that iran may now have american

intelligence which it could sell to china or russia. former penn state coach jerry sandusky heads to coach tomorrow for a preliminary hearing in the child sex abuse case against him. sandusky faces 52 counts for allegedly molesting eight boys over a 1-year period. there are new questions about one of most explosive claims in the case w untime scant coach mike mcqueary said he saw sandusky sexually salting a boy in the locker room showers. but the herringburg newspapers reported that when he went to his father's home after the incident -- but the newspapers reported that when he went to the father's home after the incident, he said that he heard

ready for tebow time. another comeback for the broncos. he throws a touchdown pass with just a couple of minutes late. mat pratter with a 59-yard field goal to tie t in overtime, you knew it was going to happen. broncos win. another 51-yard field goal. broncos in first place. 7-1 with tebow under center. d.c. still buzzing over the big championship fight at the convention center on saturday night going into sunday morning. d.c.'s own lamont peterson ending out a decision over the former champ now, khan to win the junior welterweight title. the brutal battle though not without controversy. the ref took two crucial points away from khan for fouls during the match. peterson gets the win. congratulation to lamont peterson also on that card, seth mitchell and also lamont's brother anthony with a win saturday night.
